Our need for information is part of our survival even and especially in the face of the questionable accuracy of news in the media.
Nature and reality are already moving targets on the shooting range of possible traumatization from a myriad of digital micro traumas and information overload. That’s why my renditions are distorted and limited to a still moment from one perspective at a time.
News. comes with intros in attention-getting red and white contrast and in capital letters; the same formal elements and principles used in the stop sign. They interrupt our screen feed and stability.
Embracing ideas of distortion, Breaking News presents a series of interpretations of traditional and digital news intros.
Rather than use elements that aim to shock the consumer into submission, my mediation aims to aestheticize and anesthetize the antagonistic riot of preludes into soft negations inviting reflection.
The breaking the aims to break down resistance to the “news” of our forced adaptation becomes instead a break given to the viewer to think and dream.
